Post covid few are getting high heart rates. Problematic if heart rate persistently higher than 140. Get an ECG once

I am glad that your brother is progressing well. The explanation for his unusual pulse/heart rate is called DECONDITIONING RESPONSE. It simply means body systems exhibit unusual response to rest and especially physical inactivity and lying down for days together. The physiotherapy is useful and so also becoming more active physically helps. This is one common explanation if there are no other issues and cleared by your physician. Best wishes
