Hi, Bipolar disorder is a chronic mental illness which requires medications for long time during acute and maintenance phases. Usually compliance to medications is poor.However some measures should be taken to improve the compliance. Probably she is in acute phase, and that could be reason also why she isn't taking medicines. Get her admitted in psychiatry hospital,where they can plan depot injection which can be taken once in 2 or 4 weeks. Also they will evaluate and change over medicines which are less drowsy. Not all medicines make one drowsy.
