The commonest cause of heel pain is a calcaneal spur (a bony projection from the heel bone). However, other conditions like
uric acid need to be excluded (though it is unlikely to cause heel pain).
Next Steps
It is advisable to get a X ray of the Ankle joint done (AP and lateral view). This will help to detect any spur or any other underlying pathology, if any. Serum uric avid level may be done. Till then you can take pain-killers (but only after consulting your physician). Sometimes local ice pack application/ hot fomentation may give relief.
Health Tips
Wearing soft soled shoes may be helpful. In case a calcaneal spur is noted, visiting an orthopaedic surgeon/rheumatologist may be helpful.
