Hi, this 46 yr gentleman has low grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma.
Now, is it cancer? Yes, it is cancer, but fortunately it is low grade variety which means he has very low risk for recurrence.
Next, is it curable? Yes, it is.
And, what is the best treatment for 100% cure?- It is complete removal of the swelling with no abnormal tissue left behind in the body.
Has this patient revived good treatment?- It seems to me that his swelling is removed completely but an MRI scan of the face and neck region would tell me whether any small disease is left out. Also, more details in the tissue report is required like, the cut margin of the swelling removed (which will also confirm the completeness of the surgery).
A second opinion of the pathology report from another standard lab is recommended since the patient will require radiation treatment if the cancer turns out to be "high grade" instead of "low grade" mucoepidermoid carcinoma. There is possibility of two different pathology reports from different labs. In that case, believe the one tested from a dedicated cancer centre.
