Hi Thanks for contacting Practo.  The haemoglobin level is extremely low firstly he needs blood transfusion immediately. Then the cause of low haemoglobin has to be diagnosed once the haemoglobin levels reach normal levels. If neglected he can have serious problems like cardiomegaly etc.
Next Steps
Get a Blood Transfusion done.

Its a serious issue. We need to find the cause of the low Hb and depending on that we can plan accordingly

Is there any other associated problem like related to kidneys or liver. Any recent surgeries? If not then he needs iron rich diet like spinach, jaggery, bananas. Avoid milk products with meals, it decreases the absorption of iron. You can supplement iron along like syp. haem up once a day for 15 days.
Next Steps
check hb after a 15 days again
Health Tips
syp haem up will cause little indigestion, or black stools.
