Gestational diabetes after delivery

Dear Doctors, I delivered in dec month in 8th month of pregnancy diagnosed with gestational diabetes nd had taken insulin Now I'm running in 3rd month postpartum period today I have given test FBS 145 Ppbs 188 Means gdm doesn't go away nd do I need to take medicine life long Please suggest

Hi there, Gestational Diabetes is not necessarily permanent..If you have a strong family history of diabetes then it is a concern. But still it is reversible. In your case with this sugar level definitely lifestyle modification like regular walking and exercise, Diet control along with medicine for now will bring it normal.. And later you can stop medicine and see once the levels are normal. But diet and exercise are a must.
