Hello there. I must say many of us are afraid of needles. But to overcome the fear, it is better to face it than avoid. In fact the process of drawing blood takes barely a few seconds and often one realises that things went better than expected. Some useful strategies to minimise your discomfort are as follows. Discuss this fear with your doctor and have an experienced technician draw your blood sample. Often experienced staff are able to do it with minimal pain and a single prick. Sit in a relaxed posture and try distracting yourself by listening to some music or talking to a nearby person when the sample is being drawn. Try to take a few deep breaths can help you calm yourself before and during the process. There are anaesthetic creams available for this purpose. But I would encourage you to consider that as a last resort. The other steps mentioned above should help you get through it. Best wishes.
