Extremely heavy menstrual bleeding

For the second month in a row my period has been either late or not normal in duration and EXTREMELY heavy. When I say heavy I mean going through 3-4 super size tampons in 5-15 mins. There is a little pain but very little and not lasting long at all, also usually not during the bleeding but the day before also. I do have unprotected sex with my bf.
