Effect of propranolol

I am diagnosed with recurrent thyroiditis , Doctor has prescribed propranolol , I.e inderal 20 mg LA , but my resting heart rate becomes 49-50 max 55 during the medication, am concerned about this , is it normal ? Should I be doing anything different ?

Hello... Propranolol is usually prescribed for the adrenergic symptoms of thyroiditis like palpitations, tachycardia, tremors.. It usually decreases heart rate... But in your case heart rate is going to low... Below 60 is bradycardia which could be dangerous... Immediately consult your Endocrinologist for dose adjustment /stopping of propranolol as per your clinical condition
