My son is 5month 10days old, he is on breastfeeding from birth but now a days he eats his hands and finger all the time, should we start formula milk as my wife feel that he is not full with breastfeeding. He poop ones/twice a week, so please suggest what to do?

It’s common that baby getting gum swollen after 5-6 month and babies try to put everything inside his mouth because of gum itching It is advisable to start extra food after 6 month But if he becomes hungry every time you can start formula Passing stool every 7 days is ok It will be regular after 6-7 months
