Adenomyomatosis (ADM)is generally a benign condition of the gall bladder (GB) where the inner lining (mucosa) as well the muscularis wall gets thickened. Sometimes it presents in the form of acute attacks of pain. Symptomatic ADM is an indication for proceeding with laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Also there are recently certain reports suggesting links between ADM and GB cancer. So if you know that you have adenomyomatosis and you have had pain also infrequently, it is better to get the surgery done which is one time cure for ADM and for the risk of cancer as well.
