Dry cough after throat infection

Had a throat infection 3 days ago and now have dry cough, sometimes very severe that hurts the throat. I am not on any meds but just over the counter cough syrup. Should I be worried or should consult a doc?

You seem to be suffering from post viral cough which is common type of dry cough syndrome after an attack of viral upper respiratory tract infection. Usually it will resolve on its own within few days. You can use dry cough syrups, strepsils like lozenges and steam inhalation for faster recovery
