Dissolvable stitches still intact

Dissolvable stitches still intact  6 weeks after circumcision. Not a single stitch has dissolved around the foreskin region. My surgeon says that it is normal and it will take time. But at least a few stitches should get dissolved by this time. I have been sitting in the bathtub twice everyday for 2 weeks but still no effect. Is this normal? Please guide.
