I have very interesting question please. When dilated eye exam is performed by opthalmologist to check the retina 1. Can it detect posterior vitreous detachment 2. If there is no PVD visible during dilation, can opthalmologists check for the consistency of the gel as well? Like how much it is solid and how much it is liquified giving a rough idea to when PVD will take place in future. Do dilated exams have the ability to check for the quality of gel basically?

Hi .. PVD can be diagnosed with dilated exam , sometimes ,u dialated too Vitreous gel can be examined...but liquid n solid percentage cannot be determined and that too does not have a direct correlation as to when PVD will happen.
