Diffuse cerebral atrophy

My father is a psychiatric patient recently he was not sleeping whole night even after consulting doctor later we took MRI, in impression Diffuse cerebral atrophy with small vessel ischemia mentioned. What is the precautions and to whom we need to consult? Is it curable? How serious it is? All of sudden we are seeing so many changes. Please suggest

Please consult a psychiatrist & also take an opinion from a neurologist. What mri suggests is changes in brain ... related to dementia. In dementia you can have lot of behaviour changes. And definitely can exacerbate the existing psychiatric illness.

What psychiatric issues he has got ? Does he suffer from any issues with his memory? Have you noticed any change in his personality? Does he suffer from any medical issues like Diabetes,Hypertension ? Did he had any stroke in the past. We need to correlate symptoms with MRI Some chronic psychiatric conditions can present with above brain changes which could have been further exaggerated by acute event Please elaborate on symptoms
