Hi this is called Vaginismus
Vaginismus is a condition where the muscles around the vagina involuntarily contract or spasm, making it difficult or impossible to engage in vaginal penetration. This can cause pain, discomfort, and anxiety during sexual activity, as well as difficulty with gynecological exams or inserting tampons.
The exact cause of vaginismus is not fully understood, but it is believed to be related to anxiety, fear, or trauma associated with vaginal penetration. It can also be caused by physical conditions such as infections, endometriosis, or pelvic floor dysfunction.
Treatment for vaginismus typically involves a combination of physical therapy, counseling, and relaxation techniques. Pelvic floor physical therapy can help to relax the muscles around the vagina and improve control over them. Counseling can help to address any underlying psychological factors that may be contributing to the condition. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga can also be helpful in reducing anxiety and tension in the body.
Medical management is not approved however an off label use of muscle relaxants and anti- anxiety medications have shown some improvement
Easiest method to try now could be a vaginal lubricant like KY Jelly . If that does not work
Please schedule a consult with a counsellor
Some gynaecologist may also try progressive vaginal dilatation therapy.. it may take some time but it works .
If you want to discuss further we can get on a teleconsult
