A HSG is a radiologic procedure to investigate the shape of the uterine cavity and the shape and patency of the fallopian tubes. A Laparoscopy is a surgical procedure in which a fibre-optic instrument is inserted through the abdominal wall to view the organs in the abdomen or permit small-scale surgery. In your case however the laparoscopy will be used to have a look at the ovaries and the fallopian tube from the outside it is generally done under general anaesthesia and during the procedure you will not be conscious after the procedure you will be provided with pain controlling medications which will reduce if not eliminate the pain.
