Cold and cough from 6months no fever or any other complaint goes more in favour of allergic cause.see in allergies precautions r more important than medicines.avoid cool substances,dust ,smoke,certain food if ur child has symptoms after eating. U can use antihistamines and decongestants during attacks.but certain chronic problems also ent and lung need to be ruled out.so i advise consult a ent doc as well as pulmonologist.thank u.
