Copd and asthema , lungs on vantilator

My Father , 73 is a patient of copd and asthema since long has been admited to hospital since 15th feb due to drowsyness and excess level of co2 in body. They put him on ventilation.within next 2 days all his other supports has been removed exept lungs support. He has no other complications but his lungs are not workingwithout support hence attempt to weaning has failed within 3 , 4 hrs evrytime. What is the solution to bring him home in a stable condition? Will non invesive vantilator work ?

There are many factors to be considered before removing ventilator. Your incharge chest physician is the best to judge it
