"Hello Doctor. About 8.5 years ago, I accidentally rubbed my naked penis, which had a small cut, against blood on a bed. I do not know whose blood it was, whether the person had
HIV, or whether the blood was fresh or old. About 15 days later, I developed a cold and mouth ulcers. Since then, I have had
B12 deficiency, mild gastric and gallbladder wall thickening, a small neck lymph node and small groin lymph nodes that have remained stable for years, and multiple normal CBC tests. I have had no fever, night sweats, chronic diarrhea, or weight loss; instead I gained about 14 kg. At 6 months, I had an HIV Tri-Dot test. Only the control dot appeared and the report stated HIV-1 and HIV-2 non-reactive, but the technician did not sign it, which made me worry. The next day I saw the same negative report saved in the lab computer. Could this exposure have caused HIV, and is there any reason to suspect HIV now?"
