Colic due to calcium carbonate syrup

My paediatrician has prescribed Vitamin D3 drops and calcium carbonate syrup for my 2 month old son. He is not exclusively breastfed and we use top feed so Dr recommended them. But after starting this medication he's uncomfortable and has colic like pain. Do this medication cause gas or spasm?

Usually they don't....but calcium syrup u should continue for short duration....vit D3 drops till 1 yr of age
