My baby is 48days old and I noticed some strange red clots in his stool. He always pressures and take out stool but never cries so he might not felt discomfort anytime. Please suggest what is it.

this consistency is seen in constipation. normally hardness of the stool is not seen when you are giving only breastfeeding to the child. it is advisable to continue only breastfeeding and nothing else till completion of 6 months of age. if still the hard stool continues you have to visit the doctor to find the cause. but if you are giving formula milk then there is a possibility that the milk is not properly digested by the child and you will have to change the brand of formula milk. also do not give any food to the child except milk at this age.

Please monitor, if worsening baby needs medical review. If stools are hard this could be due to constipation
