Gynecomastia is a swelling of the breast tissue in boys or men, caused by an imbalance of the hormones estrogen and
testosterone. Gynecomastia can affect one or both breasts, sometimes unevenly. signs and symptoms usually include swollen breast gland tissue and breast tenderness. In most cases if the causative factor is removed it will regress over time. The options of treatment are hormone replacement therapy which is more effective in the initial stages and then there is surgery. I would advise you to follow the following lifestyle changes which would help:
- Exercise regularly (minimum 30 mins)
- Eat a well balanced diet. Avoid greasy, oily, fatty and junk food.
- Reduce weight to a healthy weight according to your BMI
- Avoid habits such as smoking and drinking(which could also lead to development of gynecomastia).
- Review any medications(if you're on any medication) as some medicines may cause hormonal imbalances.
I would advise you to meet a general surgeon so that it can be evaluated and the choice of treatment can be decided.
