In cervical Spondylosis there is compression of the spinal cord. If the compression is severe and symptoms are progressing (worsening day by day), Surgery is done to reduce the pressure on nerves to prevent further worsening. Different surgical procedures for the same are available - laminectomy, discectomy, corpectomy, etc. Most of these procedures are done by a Neurosurgeon under the magnification of a microscope - hence also known as Microsurgery.
