Hi. In short the answer is Yes. To explain it's a lot but there are various mechanisms. Long term uncontrolled hypertension leading to stiff heart leading to acute heart failure, if not treated on time can cause cardiorespiratory arrest. Short term, suddenly BP elevates to very high levels, hypertensive emergency, can cause acute pulmonary edema, heart failure (fluid in lungs) and cardiorespiratory arrest. Besides that hypertension is one of the risk factors leading to coronary artery disease.
Next Steps
It's a very general question with a lot to explain. If there is any specific thing you want to know you could seek consultation with a cardiologist and discuss.
