Can pigmentation be cured

I am having pigmentation problem since 6 months..have been adviced kojic acid then vc x serum and now the doctor says keep using kojic acid..but i stopped it last month and now i finally feel that atleast my pigmentation is not worsening..can topical treatments cure this problem or will i have to go for hydrafacial etc .
