Its a hole or a defect in the wall between the two lower chambers of your heart. The chance that it will close spontaneously now is practically zero. This hole can lead to increased lung pressures, breathlessness, heart failure and heart infections. Hence better to close it through a procedure. An interventional procedure through leg vein can plug the hole using an umbrella like device. If this is not possible, open heart surgery is the other option.
