Birth control pills and augmentin

Last Monday I was given augmentin for a sinus and ear infection. I was told it could effect my birth control pills. I am now spotting really bad and just wondered if that was normal. And also if that could include hormonal changes in mood too.

All this is due to harmonal disturbance caused due to drug interaction between augmentin and birth control pills,and usually subsides in two to three days..
