Biotin interference In tridot hiv tests

2025-02-02 09:17:40
I had an exposure in 2011 and I took three hiv tests tridot 1 and w western blot 1 and 2  and pcr hiv 1 . All were negative. I might have had tablets that would have had biotin. I recently read that biotin interferes with tests that uses biotin streptavidin in FDA website and many doctors in other sites saying the same . Does tridot western blot use Biotin streptavidin in its mechanism? I don't know what tablets I took before the test , I have a doubt I took coenzyme R but I'm not sure . Am i negative or do I need to repeat tests.

If all your HIV tests (Tridot, Western Blot, and PCR) were negative and done after the window period, you're likely HIV-negative. Biotin may interfere with some tests, but not typically confirmatory ones like Western Blot or PCR. If you suspect interference, consult your doctor and consider retesting after stopping biotin for 48 hours. For reassurance, a 4th-generation or nucleic acid test (NAT) can confirm your status. Always practice safe behaviors and seek professional advice for peace of mind.
