We do half plaster in case of bruising or swelling. It is normally done and nothing different. It is not advisable to remove it as the orthoapedician has put it to immobilize your ankle so that the fracture heals. A fracture usually takes 4 to 6 weeks for it to show signs of healing following which we allow weight bearing based on pain and fracture healing pattern..for you to be completely pain free and do all activities as before it will take 3 months.
