Daily plaque removal is best accomplished by a soft bristled toothbrush and interdental cleaning
aids like flossing.
Mouthwashes only act as adjuncts to oral hygiene practices but can never be the replacement for tooth brushing because they do not remove the plaque but only neutralize it.
The plaque that is retained over a long period of time due to insufficient cleaning calcifies and becomes hard deposit called as calculus which cannot be removed by tooth brushing.
Such deposits accumulate more plaque and also make the cleaning difficult and are the reasons for gum inflammation and halitosis (bad breath).
Since they cannot be removed by tooth brushing they need to be removed mechanically by a dentist by a procedure called as scaling.
Try to search for a dentist in your vicinity and schedule an appointment for scaling to get rid of your problem.
Regular cleaning of your tongue with your toothbrush every time after you brush your teeth is another healthy practice for improved oral health and prevention of halitosis.
Maintaining a good level of hydration is also equally critical.
