Baby not taking breastfeed

My son is born 2 months premature. Actual age now is 8 months. He was on exclusive breastfeeding till now. From last 15 days I am observing that he is taking feed at big intervals of 3 to 4 hrs which was 2 - 2.5 hour earlier. We have started giving him complementary food from last 2 days as per his doctor's recommendation My query is 1. Is it ok for babies to loose interest in breastfeed at this stage. Should I stop breastfeeding now 2. After starting complementary food which milk should be used for babies - packaged toned milk, cow milk or formula feed

1. Reduce breast milk and increase complementary feeds. 2. As babies grow older the feeding time reduces and duration between feeds increases, this is normal. 3. Animal milk after 1 year of age only

1. Baby may not lose interest but it's important to add complementary feeds along with breastfeeding at this age now. You can continue breastfeeding up to 2 years of age. No need to stop. But remember, complementary feeds with balanced diet is equally important. 2. Breast milk is still the best milk, at least up to 1-2 years of age. You can however give pasteurized animal milk if you wish.
