Baby hunger cues

Our baby is 20 days old. He is constantly feeding every one hour. He starts sucking his hand or will cry till we start feeding him. Is it normal? He pees like 10-12 times a day. Some feeds last for 30-40 minutes. While others last only about 5-10 minutes. Is it normal behaviour of the baby?

Can be considered normal for now if there's adequate weight gain, urine output and activity. Try to feed the child 2 hourly and breastfeeding sessions not more than 20-25mins. Can follow such steps to help regularise feeding cycles of baby, though this might feel difficult. If problems persists, can seek opinion of a lactational consultant.

Yes this is normal behaviour for the baby. The Patten will change. If the baby is active, weight is ok, passing urine and potty, nothing to worry about

We should see for proper breast attchment and positioning. Urine is good but baby generally sleep for 1-1.5hr after satisfactory sleep… Normal breastfeeding time last from 4min-28min. Anything beyond this is abnormal… kindly consult lactation counsellor for solution of your queries…
