Thanks for reaching out!
Overthinking, also known as excessive rumination, with excessive worry and assumption of the worst outcome for most day to day things, with intermittent anxiety/panic attacks: all of these symptoms can be potentially attributed to an anxiety disorder like a generalized anxiety disorder with +/- panic disorder. At the same time, feeling excessively sad, with frequent crying, anhedonia, sleep impairments, causing impairments in day to day activities raises some concern for a potential mood disorder. Fortunately, science has made a lot of progress in terms of treatments like SSRI’s, mood stabilizers, cognitive behavior therapy, long term psychodynamic therapy, etc. I’m personally not much familiar with any good herbal medicines for it.
Next Steps
I would suggest reaching out to your nearest psychiatrist (in person or via tele consultation) to undergo a thorough evaluation to try to tease out the exact diagnosis if any, which will inform the relevant treatment.
Health Tips
In the mean time, I would suggest maintaining a journal in which try to note down your thoughts, both positive and negative. For some people, writing proves to be very therapeutic. All the best!
