I have one quick question I'm taking NITROFURANTOIN 50 mg for next 20 days as I'm diagnosed with E. coli in urine for the 2nd time. And I just got to know that antibiotics reduce your immunity. These days everyone is scared of black fungus disease. Please advice is it safe to take antibiotics for such long period also how should I maintain my immunity if I take antibiotics. Thanks in advance

Nitrofurantoin does not affect immunity. Antibiotics help immune system fight infections. They HELP the immune system of the body. (You have been mis-guided) Please check the cause of UTI as repeated urinary tract infections could be due to 1.Poor local urethral hygiene 2. Undiagnosed diabetes. 3. Improperly treated previous infection
Next Steps
check urine culture for antibiotic sensitivity. this will tell you which antibiotic will clear the e. coli infection.
Health Tips
drink plenty of water. maintain proper hygiene. improve protein content of diet: soya, paneer, milk, eggs meat.
