ANTIBIOTIC AND THEIR RESISTANCE

These days the typhoid fever is becoming an antibiotic resistant one. The antibiotics that used to treat typhoid for the same person for the same strain isn't working any longer. What antibiotics do you advice the patients to take during typhoid fever? Chloramphenicol, cefixime, cefuroxime axetil, azithromycin, cefpodoxime and their combinations are working well. Should a person go for higher class of antibiotics such as faropenem etc. Or what's your advice ?

Proper antibiotic should be started after Culture and Sensitivity testing of blood sample. It will detect the type of bacteria causing infection and also its resistance pattern to various antibiotics.
