The reason he has been advised to do angiography is to check the status of his coronary arteries. As already mentioned, it is a day care procedure. Should be alright. Let us know what the results are.

Coronary angiogram is routinely done diagnostic procedure to know status of coronary arteries in those patient with anginal symptoms and background history of other cardiac risk factors. It is safely done now a days through hand in just 10-15 minutes as day care procedure. Patient can be discharged same day if otherwise normal. As your patient is elderly gentleman with history of diabetes and hypertension so keeping in view of his symptomatic status, it must have been advised to find out if any underlying significant Coronary artery disease.

Now a days angiography became like all other normal investigations.. usually in procedure it takes hardly 10 min.give him mentally support ...tell him now a days technology is too advanced ...don't b scared ..
