Hello, I am looking for guidance on the correct medication and dosage for my 6-year-old son (Weight: 20kg, Height: 122cm). He has developed a dry, hacking cough specifically triggered by smoke inhalation. He has slight fever. I currently have access to: 1. Alex P 2. Benylin Dry Cough syrup 3. Solvin Cold syrup Which of these is most appropriate for an isolated dry cough, and what is the recommended dosage for his weight? Thank you

Based on your description, your child has an irritant-triggered dry cough (smoke exposure) with mild fever. For an isolated dry cough, the most appropriate option among the medicines you have is Benylin Dry Cough syrup. It helps suppress dry, hacking cough and is suitable for a 6-year-old child. Recommended dose (for 20 kg / 6 years): • Benylin Dry Cough syrup: 5 mL 2–3 times a day Alex-P and Solvin Cold are combination syrups meant more for cold with runny nose, congestion, or productive cough, and are not preferred for an isolated dry cough.
