Hi! ADA or adenosine deaminase is a marker test which is used as one of the indicators of Tuberculosis. However, this does not mean that high levels of ADA indicates only Tb, it can be an indicator of other health problems as well. To accurately diagnose if the ADA levels indicates Tb or some other condition, it is best to get a AFB test of sputum also done. A combination report of high ADA with AFB positive indicates Tb.
