Acute Hepatitis B
My father got acute Hepatitis B recently. I want to know, will it be cured completely with medicine and will medicine kill the virus completely? Please suggest me, which doctor to consult? It would be good if anyone can suggest hospital name & doctor name.. we stay in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

There are 2 types of hepatitis which may become 'chronic' or in simple terms which may stay in the patient's body even after that particular bout of infection is cured.
Out of usual types of Hepatitis :
Hep A and E are transferred through Feco-oral route , never become chronic.
Hep B and C are transmitted through transfer of bodily fluids, like Blood transfusion or Coming in contact with the infected needle or Semen(via sexual route) etc. And they have more chances to become chronic.
In case of Hepatitis B, in around 10% of patient the virus stays in the body dormantly. (these patients are called 'Carriers of Hepatitis B' )
Treatment plan for such patient varies as per the subsequent reports.
For now please focus on treating the Acute infection (current infection ) of Hepatitis B.
Also please make sure that the caretakers are taking precautions if there is any open wound or needles involved.
