Ultrasound of neck is a very sensitive test for identification of enlarged lymph nodes. Submandibular lymph nodes are enlarged in most of us because of childhood dental infections and dental treatments. They are sometimes deep and can't be palpated unless significantly enlarged. Ultrasound of neck generally involves examining all leveled of lymph nodes in neck so it's unlikely that it has missed anything
