Yesterday my right arm suddenly became numb. I waited for a while to see if it would go but other symptoms surfaced like fatigue, shortness of breath and feeling of chest compression. My ECG result was abnormal and doctor said I have a leaky mitral valve and prescribed neurobion but said not to worry at all. Is my condition serious or is it fine?

Need full Echo report before giving definite reply. On a more general note, the effects of mitral valve regurgitation depends on its severity. Depending on the reason for the problem, it may progress. It has to be constantly monitored by regular Echocardiograms. Medicines help in the initial stages to control the symptoms. In some patients if the regurgitation becomes severe then they may need to under go surgery. Surgery if done on time gives very good result and one can lead a normal life.
