4 month old baby fast breathing
A 4 month old baby breathes fast while breastfeeding. He is very active and not showing any other symptoms. Let me know is it normal?
Baby breathing fast during breast feeding is normal, but it should not be persistent and count the number of breaths in a minute, it should not be crossing 50 breaths in a minute. Keep a watch on excessive sweating while feeding, cold, cough, wheezing or chest retraction if any of these present then you should consult a pediatrician

Hi, in case infants who are less than 1year of age breathing fast has lot of explanations. Yes it can be normal but if the baby is taking rest during the feeding, or if it having any other signs of respiratory difficulties like chest in drawing, nasal flare etc then it is case to be evaluated for respiratory distress.
