"Recovery after corrosive ingestion "
Accidental corrosive ingestion on 05 June 2026. Hospitalized and underwent upper GI endoscopy. Report showed Esophageal corrosive injury with gastroduodenal erosions. Also treated for electrolyte imbalance and metabolic acidosis during hospitalization.
Recovery after corrosive ingestion (Zargar Grade IIA esophageal injury) – diet, nausea, and follow-up advice
Most patients recover uneventfully at this Zargar stage :
Follow instructions of your treating doctor
Graded increase in oral diet, PPI drugs like Pantoprezole,
Close follow up
In case of any severe symptoms like chest pain, inability to swallow, you should immediately report and go to the hospital and get evaluated
A check Endoscopy is generally done after one and a half months to see for any sequela
