Yes. Yeast infection is a very common and recurrent infection. As with any antibiotics, the treatment must be completed or else the infections recur and they need higher anti fungal medications to eradicate it.
Any vaginal suppository is meant to have the medicine along with some chemicals that help disperse the drug in the vagina and some ph balancing medicines.
Since it is meant for dispersing the agent in the vagina, there is a small amount of reaction which takes place with the normal secretions of the vagina and this creates a mild foam which disperses the medicines. Hence it is okay to feel a bit sore and pain. Also though there are many modes of giving anti fungals local vaginal suppositories ( which are called pessaries ) are the simplest treatments. They have to be kepy intravaginall after just moistening it. This medicine may need repeat doses whether you have been prescribed a 3 day or 7 day course.
Till the course is over the white discharge remains. And since the suppository disintegrates, it too produces some discharge, which makes a patient feela s if the discharge has increased
Next Steps
If the pain/ soreness does not go away after completion of the course of medicines, you may need a second look to see if the diagnosis was right in first place or whether it needs an additional oral medicine course, or addition of any extra medicines due to the infection being mixed
