A friend of mine wants to try to overdose on Ativan. She weighs around 100 lbs and is around 5’2. Will 6 mg of Ativan kill her if she takes it all at once? I can’t stop her because I have no way of knowing where she is or any of her family members numbers. But I need to know if it will kill her. Please.

This medication is used to treat anxiety, the benzodiazepines in this tablet will act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. The common side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, loss of coordination, headache, nausea, blurred vision, change in sexual interest/ability, constipation, heartburn, or change in appetite. Talk to the doctor / Psychiatrist who has been treating her, as there are serious effects such as mental/mood changes (such as hallucinations, depression, thoughts of suicide), talking, vision changes, unusual weakness, trouble walking etc. Your query seems to be really a concern, best to alert responsible elders in the family and help your friend by preventing her from taking any drastic steps.
