Hello.... Sir I understand your situation... I think you should know that any open wonds in our body have a great potential/ possibility of becoming infected if not managed properly..... The infection may have spread to deeper layers of skin,if that's the case then- the affected skin region will have redness, pain, warm to touch. sometimes associated with fever and chills.... Since it is most often due to bacterial infection, antibiotics with good range of coverage against common microbial agents causing this is prescribed and if there is any abscess formation than surgical drainage is done... In certain resistant cases sometimes oral antibiotics is changed to intravenous antibiotics for faster response.... The main goal here is to prevent sepsis in the body... If patient is complaining too much pain than other forms of infection should be ruled out... foot end should be above your heart level, the main idea here is to reduce swelling which is aided by gravity.... Kindly consult a general surgeon for further queries and proper management of this condition....
