I walk 12 km daily  from morning till night sleep since last year to stay  fit and to maintain my weight. I got great result too . I don't have any pain in my knees or any part of the body. But I want to know  walking this much daily can be harmful for my knees or back in a long run? Pls suggest how many km daily walk is ideal to maintain weight and safe against any orthopedic damage.

walking is an ideal exercise , every body has its limitation , any thing in overuse is harmful . i think your body will better tell when to stop , listen to your body and take decision .

Don't over exert yourself. Walking is a good exercise. Add non weight bearing exercises like swimming and cycling if possible. Your body will indicate fatigue and wear and tear with starting of pain
