Vaginal washing

For almost two months I was experiencing vaginal infection (a combination of yeast infection and fishy-smelling bacterial vaginosis). The treatment started with a Clobenate-GM ointment and ended with a 7-night course of Clindamycin vaginal capsules and cleaning the insides of the vagina with V-wash. There was immense relief from the vaginal capsules, but shortly after the completion of the course of Clindamycin, there was a reappearance of yellow-ish discharge along with a foul smell. I was asked to continue cleaning the vulva, as well as the insides of the vagina with the V-wash, twice a day for 15 days. After completing this, as well, there is considerable relief from the itch, as well as the fishy odour, even the discharged seems to be normal like I usually used to get. My doctor is suggesting that I continue with cleaning the insides of the vagina with V-wash, for hygiene purposes. Is this okay, in my specific case, even though the vagina is supposed to be a self-cleaning organ?
