Tuberculosis

My sister has been diagnosed with a Potts spine . Earlier her Esr and Crp both were increased above normal levels. The medication has been given for a month for the tuberculosis, the crp has returned to the normal but the ESR has further more increased to 40 from 26. Does it mean the drugs might be resistant to her Tb infection ?

Hi.  I understand your concern s. Do not worry about ESR. just keep a regular follow up with your treating doctor and use medications regularly.

Rise in ESR does not suggest drug resistance.it is better to consult your treating physician/Ortho rather than imagining and putting question on net.

ESR is not a very specific test, concentrate on her symptoms and the repeat imaging test which shall be done at 3 months or earlier if necessary.
